Pay staff for piece-rate work
Keep a catalogue of work items with a rate per unit, record the work each person did, and pay work-basis staff from the entries.
On this page
Work-basis staff are paid for the work they finish, such as pieces stitched or boxes packed.
Add work items
- Go to Piece-rate work.
- Under Catalogue, enter the Work item, the Unit (for example piece) and the Rate per unit (₹).
- Select Add item.
Select Archive to stop using an item. Past entries keep their rate.
Record work
- Under Add work for several staff, pick the Date, the Work item and the Quantity.
- Tick the staff who did it.
- Select Add work.
Work entries lists each entry with the Date, Staff, Work item, Quantity, Amount and Status.
Approved at once
Work you add on this page is approved straight away. Staff cannot send their own work entries from self-service, so entries do not wait for approval. Only approved entries are paid. Select Delete to remove a wrong entry. A finalised pay run does not change when you delete an entry it already paid.
You need the Manage work entries permission.
In payroll
Work-basis staff need no salary. The pay run adds their approved entries of the period as Work pay on the payslip, at the rate on each entry. Someone with no approved entries in the month is still in the run, with ₹0.
