Create a salary template
Build a reusable salary layout from components, choose how each line is worked out and how payable days are counted, then use it for many staff.
On this page
A template is a salary layout you can reuse: which components it has, how each is worked out and how payable days are counted.
Create a template
- Go to Salary → Salary templates and scroll to the New template form below the list.
- Enter the Template name, for example "Shop staff".
- Choose the Staff type: Monthly, Daily, Hourly or Per work.
- Choose the Payable days method. See Payable days methods. For a fixed number of days, enter the Days counted in a month.
- Turn on Employer contributions inside the CTC if the employer PF and ESI are part of the CTC you quote.
- Under Components, add one row per line: choose the Component, its Calculation and the amount or percentage. Type a percentage as a whole number: 40 means 40%.
- Select Save.
Leave a row's component empty to skip it. One line may take the Rest of gross, so the lines always add up to the gross you set.
A common layout
| Component | Calculation | Value |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | Percent of | 50 of GROSS |
| HRA | Percent of | 40 of BASIC |
| Special allowance | Rest of gross |
Here Basic is 50% of gross and HRA is 40% of Basic. Use GROSS for gross, or the codes of other components, in Of components.
Use the template
Pick it when you set a staff member's salary. Each template card shows its lines. Select Edit to change it or Delete to remove it.
