Choose a staff type
Regular employees, contractual staff and work-basis staff differ in how they are paid, their salary structure and statutory items. Pick the right one.
On this page
When you add staff, X first asks what kind of staff member you are adding. The type decides how the person is paid.
The three types
| Type | Best for | Pay | Salary structure | PF, ESI and other statutory items |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Regular employee | Full-time payroll | Fixed monthly | Full | Included |
| Contractual | Temporary or contract work | Monthly, daily or hourly | Reduced | Included |
| Work basis | Output or task based work | Per completed work | None | Not included |
The Compare staff types window also has a Tax declarations row. X has no tax declaration pages, so that row has no effect.
All three types have attendance and leave.
How to choose
- Pick Regular employee for people on your monthly payroll.
- Pick Contractual for temporary staff, or anyone you pay by the day or the hour.
- Pick Work basis for people paid by the piece or the task. Their pay comes from approved work entries. See Pay staff for piece-rate work.
Find staff by type
On the Staff page, the Staff type filter splits contractual staff by pay basis: Contractual, monthly, Contractual, daily and Contractual, hourly.
