Leave types are the kinds of leave, for example Casual leave (CL), Sick leave (SL) or Earned leave (EL). Policies then say how many days of each type staff get.

Add a leave type

  1. Go to Leave and select Policies and types.
  2. Under Leave types, enter a short Code, up to 12 characters, such as CL.
  3. Enter the Name.
  4. Keep Paid leave on for paid leave. Turn it off for unpaid leave.
  5. Keep Can be taken as half day on if staff may take half a day of it.
  6. Select Add leave type.

You need the Set up leave policies permission.

Built-in types

Unpaid leave and comp off are always available to every staff member and do not need a policy. Comp off comes from work on off days. See Comp off for work on off days.

Archive a type

Select Archive next to a type you no longer use. It is marked archived and is no longer offered in new policies. Past leave of that type stays. Built-in types cannot be archived.
