Punch in from a phone browser
For staff: punch in and out from your phone's browser, share your location when asked, and know what each message after a punch means.
There is no phone app. You punch from X in your phone's browser.
The first time
Before your first punch, a notice titled Before you mark attendance explains what is recorded: your location at the moment you punch, who can see it and how long it is kept. Location is read only when you punch, never in the background. Select I understand, continue.
Punch in
- Log in and open My attendance.
- Check today's card: the date, your shift and any late mark.
- Select Punch in.
- If your browser asks to share your location, allow it.
You see "Punch recorded at" and the time. The button then changes to Punch out.
Punch out
At the end of your work, open My attendance and select Punch out. The card lists today's punches and how long you Worked.
Messages you may see
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| Location is needed to punch. Allow location for this site and try again. | Allow location for this page in your browser settings, then try again |
| This browser cannot share your location. | Use another browser, or ask your manager to mark you |
| Payroll for this day is final, so punching is closed. | Ask your manager if your attendance needs a correction |
| Today is your weekly off. | No punch needed |
| Holiday, with the holiday's name | No punch needed |
| On leave today | No punch needed |
If your employer checks the work site, a punch from too far away may be refused. Move to the site and try again, or talk to your manager.
Times
Your punch time is the server's time when the punch arrives, not your phone's clock. Changing the clock on your phone does not change the time of your punch. If your phone's clock is more than 5 minutes off, the punch keeps the server's time and is flagged for your employer, so keep automatic date and time on. You need an internet connection to punch.
Questions
Does X take a photo when I punch?
No. Punching from a browser does not take a photo.
Does X see where I am all day?
No. Your location is read only at the moment you punch, and only when your employer's rules ask for it.
