Assign shifts and days off
Give a shift to the whole business, a branch, a department, a work site or one person, from a start date, with the days off each week.
Assigning a shift saves a weekly pattern: the shift on working days, and the days off you tick.
Assign a shift
- Go to Shifts and find Assign a shift.
- In Applies to, choose Whole business, Branch, Department, Work site or One staff member, then pick which one.
- Choose the Shift.
- Choose the date it applies Starting.
- Under Days off, tick the days off each week. No day is ticked to begin with.
- Keep Keep the assigned weekly offs ticked if the person's weekly-off template should still apply, also after it changes. Untick it to use only the days off you ticked here.
- Select Assign.
You need the Edit the roster permission.
Who gets which shift
The most specific assignment wins, so you can set one shift for the whole business and a different one for a single branch or person.
To change one day for one person, use the roster. See Plan the weekly roster.
People with no shift
A rule set can name a Shift when the roster has none. See Set up an attendance rule set.
Questions
What if a person falls under two assignments?
The most specific one wins. One staff member beats a work site or a department, those beat a branch, and a branch beats the whole business.
